Writing Dirty Licks presented an opportunity to demonstrate a new writing style of present tense form refine my interwoven narrative approach. I also was able to explore non-traditional topics such as porn addiction, mental challenges, and teen sex in the urban fiction genre.
What was your biggest challenge writing Dirty Licks?
My biggest challenge to writing Dirty Licks was making sure the narrative stayed consistent and the stories lined up to a plausible conclusion.
Which character do you think that readers will love to hate and why?
I think readers will love to hate Ronald, the porn addicted twin brother. They may also feel sorry for him because he can not be totally responsible for his actions. However, he is bad enough to love to hate because readers will love and root for Angel.
What is it that you'd like readers to walk away with after reading Dirty Licks ?
I'd like readers, especially women, to walk away from reading Dirty Licks with a new reflection to their youth through Binky's eyes and strength through the eyes of Angel. I hope Starla gives women a sense of empowerment and adds something to the conversation about women's roles and how men perceive them.
What is a hidden talent or pastime that you enjoy that may surprise others?
Most would not believe that at one point, when I was spiritually balanced, I was able to control my dreams. I hope to get back to that point.
