Dylan is often seeking strategies to create the perfect plot to rid her life of the crazy, sexy, cool, dysfunction that fuels her bad girl gone worse image. Her main goal in life is to gain footwear by any means necessary, to
satisfy an unknown void in her reckless life.
Dylan's addictive and relentless behavior affects everyone in her life, and magnetizes predatory minds seeking revenge on her true love...her daddy, Chief of Police, Jonathan Jones -- who demands she steers her life on a path of excellence and not destruction. Dylan is often caught in the middle of making good choices to please her father, while continuously falling into a fiery pit of hell as her inner voice leads her astray. Each seductive step in her prized collection sends Dylan down the wrong path of deceit, destruction, mayhem and murder; leaving Dylan surrounded by nonstop chaos and her uncontrollable bad girl image.
I've been writing since grade school, and I wish I would've buckled down earlier and unveiled my gift for writing to literary lovers, instead of keeping my work hidden in notebook binders. 10 years ago, my greatest fear was success; which manifested a lot of self doubt of my ability to produce great literature. Now with two books under my belt, my greatest fear is failure.
What was your inspiration for writing this particular book?
The love of a perfectly crafted peep-toe pump or classic stiletto was my inspiration. I love shoes, especially shopping for them. I remember searching for a pair of my favorite shoes in my closet when a pile of boxes tumbled out. I stood there surrounded by a pile of shoes that I could recall the greatest memories while wearing them. After several days of pondering on a perfect angle, my special character Dylan Jones was born and the story grew into several typed pages of my greatest creative energy.
Which character do you think that readers will love to hate and why?
I think readers would love to hate the character Demi. She's Demi bold, vulgar, risk taking character that has no filter, but brings excitement and sexuality to any environment. She makes bad decisions that often attracts bad consequences for herself and others like Dylan.
What is it that you'd like readers to walk away with after reading your book?
I would like readers to walk away feeling entertained, excited and emotional about Dylan Jones' journey as her life takes a few twists and turns from her choices, which are often made from her addiction to shoes. The unpredictable shifts in the story will have the readers piecing together possible outcomes, and if they feel this while reading; then I captured the attention I intended.
There are a lot of surprises in the story and some of the answers won't be unveiled until book two: If These Shoes Could Talk: The Rebellion.
What is a hidden talent or pastime that you enjoy that would surprise others?
I love cupcakes, and when I travel to different cities, I like scouting out the popular cupcakeries. I am very picky about my cupcakes. My hidden talent is being able to identify whether cupcakes are delicious by the presentation inside the glass counter. It's all about the icing/cake ratio, as well as the type of icing. I am always 99% accurate, and my friends are always grateful when I save them from making a bad cupcake choice.
