What was your inspiration for writing My Steps Are Ordered?
We first meet Gina, Michael and Keith in Walk a Straight Line. These strong characters gnawed at me that they had more to tell. And, that was true. There were secrets in Walk A Straight Line which needed to be revealed. I needed to show that eventually, anything hidden does come to light. Readers will see how Keith, Gina and Michael have grown and changed, especially when dealing with a sick child.
What was your biggest challenge while writing My Steps Are Ordered?
My biggest challenge with writing My Steps are Ordered was the fact that it was a sequel. I had to make sure I tracked the character's ages and the sequence of events from one novel to the other. I had to have a keen sense of details. One way I overcame this challenge was by keeping notes on birthdays, ages, and special events so that it would transfer from one novel to the next. I was so surprised at what I forgot. As a reader, I LOVE series, but as a writer, it is challenging. You want to show how the character has progressed for the better or worse from the previous novel. You want to take the reader on a journey so that they still care about what happens to them.
If you were to create a spin off of your newest book with one of your supporting characters, which one would it be and why?
I did write a third book in the series, The Fall of the Prodigal, where I continued with Gina, Michael and Keith but I brought a couple of other minor characters to the forefront. Readers will get to know more about Verona and Nigel, who are introduced in My Steps are Ordered.
What is a hidden talent or pastime that you enjoy that would surprise others?
I love love to sing. I am the praise and worship leader in my church. I also enjoy watching vampire shows. Don't know what it is about those fangs!
