This book was written because so often I have witnessed the way children handle situations on the playground, in the classroom and just with one another when they don't see eye to eye. Most of the time the focus is on the victim or the ʺbulliedʺ, and not enough attention is given to the bully or the bystander. As we know, there are many reasons why children are bullied, and we mention some of these reasons in the book. The bystander is just as guilty if he or she does not get help, and tell someone. My son was bullied in many ways while he was in school, and often times I had to help him overcome those challenges.
I would and plan to create a spin off with the ʺKianaʺ character in our book. She is the little African American girl who is best friends with ShoozyQ. I love Kiana because of her personality, and she doesn't mind being different. She's playful, cute and exudes confidence. She has wild hair, cowgirl boots and she loves colors. She will be my next book!
Adult Fiction. I'm writing a novel now that I have actually stopped and started for years. I have decided to just go ahead and ʺpenʺ it. It's in my head, it's in my heart, and now it's time to put it in a book. Look out it's coming soon! Maybe next year actually. I don't want to be pigeon holed as to a certain genre, like just children's books. I like to write, and I like the freedom to be able to write whatever it is I'm feeling at a certain time.
Not sure if it would really surprise anyone who really knows me, but I love, love, love to read all kinds of self-help books. Anything, by anybody that I can get my hands on, I'll buy or pick up and read. Also that fact that I love peace and quiet. Silence. It's been hard to find that in the last few years.
